The first note on Zákupy dates back to 1306. At that time there used to be a fortress in the place of the current chateau. Numerous well-kept houses of wooden rural architecture have been preserved in the town. Several stone bridges were built over the stream of Svitávka, running through the town. The most interesting monument of Zákupy is the local chateau.
