The Neo-Renaissance-style building of Liberec Town Hall was built in 1893 according to a design by F. Neumann, a Viennese architect. It is well-known for its similarity to Vienna Town Hall.

The building is decorated with sculptures by Johan Friedel, Josef Elsner and Fritz Rutsch. The tower of the town hall is 65 m tall and is open to the public, who can admire a beautiful view of all of Liberec.

In 1968 Liberec saw the rise of a resistance movement against the Soviet troops' occupation of the Czech Republic, which claimed 9 lives. The memorial is located on the wall of Liberec Town Hall and has the shape of an army tank track with imprints bearing the names of the people killed.
