Ždírec is located around 8km south of Doksy. It lies on the hillside of Bořejov, between two villages - Okna and Blatce.

The first note on the village dates back to 1052. In 1414 the village belonged to Houska. As for historical monuments in the village, there is St. James's Church and the building of the former presbytery. Houses No. 6, 20, 11 are good examples of rural architecture.
