It was founded already in the first half of the 14th century, but the first notes on the village date back to the following century.

Nová Ves also includes Mlýnice, a settlement with a large dam, offering excellent conditions for natural swimming and a peaceful holiday. Mlýnice was built, like other dams in the Region of Liberec, after catastrophic floods in 1897. It is also interesting that the 15th meridian goes though the village.
