Příkrý is located north-east of Semily on a steep slope falling into the valley of Vošmenda. It is a young village, founded only during the later colonization of upper Pojizeří.

The oldest record in the Land Register of Semily dates back to 1634. The two parts of the village are separated by a natural border formed by Na Vrších, Skalka and Benešov hills. Several timbered houses have been preserved in the village; one of them is recorded in the List of Cultural Monuments. There are also two statues of Christ Crucified and Calvary - a group of statues dating back to the middle of the 19th century. Příkrý ranks among villages that do not have a church, but there are two small bell towers.
