The first records of the village date back to 1533. Kumburk rises up south of the village. There are remains of Kumburk Castle on its peak (642m), which was built by the Vartemberk family at the beginning of the 14th century.

There are various natural and historical monuments in the surroundings of Syřenov, which may be the final destination of hikers or cyclists.
